Educators and Community Helping Hispanics Onward (ECHHO)

ECHHO recognizes the need for Hispanics in the state of Ohio and surrounding states to further their education. Therefore, ECHHO is fully committed to working in coordinated efforts with parents, high school/vocational center counselors, administrators, social service representatives and other post secondary institutions and community organizations.

Through these coordinated efforts, ECHHO will utilize its resources to provide pertinent information about higher education to Hispanic students at elementary, junior high and high school levels

Since its creation, the members of Educators & Community Helping Hispanics Onward (ECHHO) have been trailblazers in the development of focused, dedicated and productive recruitment efforts in Latino communities in Ohio and is fully committed to providing a much needed vehicle that showcases quality Latino students. Our goal is to provide access to higher education information for these students and encourage them to pursue education beyond high school. As our efforts and participation increase, so will ECHHO and its mission.

ECHHO also provides recruitment and networking opportunities for colleges/universities and community organizations committed to the development of Latino communities in Ohio. Our programs provide a venue for members to network and advise each other in multicultural recruitment issues and community development.

We currently host college awareness/recruitment programs in the following Ohio areas: Bowling-Green, Toledo, Leipsic, Fremont, Lorain, Youngstown, Columbus, Painesville and Cleveland. These programs are publicized throughout each community and all ECHHO members are invited to network and provide information about their organization to these communities.

In addition to the college awareness and recruitment programs, ECHHO annually awards scholarships to several deserving students who are currently enrolled or are planning on enrolling at one of our member institutions.
